TELLING THE BEES continues my series of large neckpieces using animal traps as
structural elements (for other examples, click here and here).
The act of disarming this implement of harm gives me satisfaction, and suffuses the
work with a potency that is thrilling to work with.

The title refers to the old folk practice of telling a hive of bees of a loved one's death;
it was believed that the bees were attendant to the soul of the departed. More information

Raccoon trap, sterling silver spoon and forks, iron, brass, 19th-century chandelier
crystal, mustard seeds, Czech cubic zirconias, 19th-century austrian crystal bead,
glass marble, steel-point engraving, sterling silver earring findings, clock- and door-keys,
masonic ceremonial chain, brass thumb-latch, leather, soil.
