In October of 1999, I moved with my daughter around the world to Sydney, Australia. The impending change gave rise to an incredible summer of furious creativity. Although I have returned to the US every summer to teach my workshops, it was for some time a bittersweet relocation, and much of my output since that move has dealt in direct or oblique terms with voyaging, actual and metaphorical.

The sculpture you will view now is the last work I made in the US, and both in material useage and content closes and capitulates my journey as an artist in the country I belong to. It was commissioned by a dear old friend who is on a journey of his own.
